Challenges and objectives
Create a series of documentaries which speak to the BBC Radio 1Xtra audience. The content will be made available on BBC iPlayer and should feel like an extension of on-air audio programming.
Recorded audio should be of high enough quality to be reused for radio broadcast.
Nemorin’s solution and activation
We worked closely with BBC Radio 1Xtra via their agency to produce a series of documentaries in the series 1Xtra Meets.
The interview with Dizzee Rascal was filmed on a rooftop in Central London, which was equidistance between the City’s financial hub and the streets of East London where he was brought up. Tinie Tempah was recorded in his studio which allowed us to gain insight and access which would appeal to the audience. Tinie also broke down elements of his album which was incredible to capture and his passion and authenticity was compelling for the production team and audience alike.
We paid careful attention to the audio to maintain quality even with surrounding traffic and helicopters in the busy location, and filmed additional footage around the streets of East London. We then cut the two-hour long interview down into a 20-minute film which was made available on BBC iPlayer.
The films were very well received and were prominently promoted on the homepage of iPlayer.
Documentaries are a great way to tell stories for brands that put the content first. When the content is insightful and interesting it engages audiences, ultimately reaching more people and increasing conversions.
