Now in its 10th year the festival, hosted at the fantastic EYE Film Museum in Amsterdam, was jam-packed with screenings of fantastic animations.
It was invigorating to see the abundance of talent and passion for animation from filmmakers all over the world.
A key takeaway from the event was that stop motion animation is still as popular as ever. The overall winner for Best Animated Short was a beautiful stop-motion film that captured the imaginations of the audience.
We’re huge fans of stop-motion here at Nemorin Creative, and the style works well when utilised by brands. We recently created stop-motion films for Spark, Hanhaa and McDonald’s. The timeless, shareable style really resonates with audiences.
But there were plenty of other styles too. The huge range of popular, successful films show that if the story or messaging is strong, then films work just as well if they’re stop-motion, hand-drawn, watercolour paintings or 3D, and each style has its own kind of charm. Unique and original films are a fantastic way for brands to attract attention to themselves and reach, engage and convert audiences.
The festival was a whirlwind of creativity and inspiration, and we can’t wait to bring what we learned back to the studio and start creating even more fantastic animations for our clients.
